Vivian Chua

Vivian Chua graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with Honours in piano performance. She is the Principal at Ann Perreau’s Music School. Vivian has a fruitful relationship with the MPO and their Education & Outreach, working on many arrangements and compositions. 

VShe was a finalist in the Young Composers Forum in March 2003, a panel member for the same forum in 2012 and a mentor for the Reeltime Composers Forum in 2013. In 2015, Vivian composed for the MPYO Together, in the Spirit of the Games for the opening ceremony of the International Olympic Committee’s Conference hosted in Kuala Lumpur. 

VHer MPO 20th Anniversary commission Mercu Kegemilangan premiered in August 2017 conducted by Maestro Naohisa Furusawa in Kuala Lumpur, followed by performances in Tokyo and the various MPO tours around Malaysia. Maestro Eiji Oue conducted this work in Singapore in September 2018. 

VVivian has arranged for orchestras, children’s ensembles, vocal groups and solo artistes like the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Song Company and Fingerprints, Zainal Abidin and M. Nasir. Her arrangement for Malaysian crooner Sean Ghazi’s original song, Semalam, won her an AIM award in 2007 for Best Song Arrangement.
