Rayner Naili

Born in Sabah, Rayner Naili studied music at the Facultyof Music of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), where he made it to the Dean’s List for his Bachelor degree in music composition. He received further music education at University of Manchester, UK. 

His works have been performed by various groups such as Quartor Danel and Trio Atem. In 2018, he was selected to represent Malaysia at the Young Composers Competition at the Asian Composers League (ACL) festival in Taiwan.

In 2019, Rayner’s work written for four bongos were world premiered during Bandung International Art Festival 2019 (BIAF 2019) in Bandung, Indonesia. In the same year, Rayner collaborated with a traditional dancer Agung Gunawan from Indonesia performing Humanity written for violin, viola, erhu, guzheng and a bongo during SoundBridge Festival 2019. 

In the following year, the reorchestration of Humanity was performed during an ACL Korea concert themed ‘Wave From Korea’ held in Seoul, Korea in 2020. Currently, Rayner is teaching in the Faculty of Music UiTM.
